Milan based Cristina Celestino was brought on board to refresh the interior “without distorting its convivial and relaxed atmosphere”. The renovation needed to make the dining experience even more welcoming.

Suspended pendants in micro-perforated sheet metal are by the Spanish company Arturo Alvarez, which appear as light as paper while displaying contrasting materiality and accurate workmanship catering to the attentive eye.

The work plays on the concepts of authenticity, comfort, simplicity, origins, and aims to create a parallel between the interior of the restaurant and the kitchen of its chef Marco Ambrosino, the undisputed soul of the place.

Textural interest is added by a partition wall that’s covered in perforated white tiles and pleated-steel pendant lamps that dangle from above.

The Fratina chair with woven seat is featured throughout, subtly highlighting the woven look of the white brick wall detail.

Celestino has used a powder-blue colour to tie in each element into the restaurant. The colour has been applied to the legs of each of the timber dining tables, between the original wooden beams on the ceiling and a small storage cupboard.

A shelving unit that stands within one of the brick wall’s arched openings also has powder-blue framework.
